Stephen Turner at the Joiner's Shop
STEPHEN TURNER AT THE JOINER'S SHOP, CHATHAM HISTORIC DOCKYARD ON TUESDAY 26TH JANUARY
Medway has always been a focus for artist Stephen Turner. As he says, 'there's something about the Medway air that's character building'. His fascination with time and tide, the land and the river, have produced some ground-breaking work. He is also well know for his time working on the Thames estuary sea forts and as well as devising exciting new projects he is a member of the Arts Council in the south east. Making a living as an artist, whose practice is decidedly contemporary, is never easy, but he has succeded in this over three decades and on 26th January he talked about what he's done and how he survives. When asked which superhero he would like to be, he replies, 'maybe I could be Perseverance Man!' That probably gives a clue to his success.
